MTD for VAT – Join the pilot scheme

Making Tax Digital

MTD for VAT does not become compulsory until 1st April 2019.  However, if you are already well on your way in keeping your digital records and you have the compatible software or bridging software to use for your spreadsheets you have the option to join the pilot scheme.

This was made open to the public from October 2018.  There are certain conditions which you must meet in order for HMRC to accept you onto the pilot:

You will not be able to take part in the pilot at present if the following applies:

If you pay your VAT by Direct debit you will not be able to sign up in the 15 working days leading up to your submission date.

This pilot will be opened to more businesses. Check regularly with HMRC to see if it has been extended to include you.

Book a discovery call now if you would like us to take over preparing your VAT returns for you, or if you’re already a client then get in touch with your client manager.
